Mixing budget: what to plan for

Mixing is bespoke work, but you can still estimate singles, EPs and stem projects. This guide links our mixing service to published rates, VAT and revision rules.

Flat track rate vs hourly

At Claviforge we quote €185 per finished track, €88 per hour in the studio, or €720 for an EP up to six songs. Amounts include 21% VAT; business clients can see net amounts on invoices from Claviforge B.V..

The track fee covers an agreed scope: balance, EQ, dynamics, panning and core effects for one song with a typical stem count. Heavy editing, tuning or vocals from many sessions may sit outside that scope—discuss before booking via contact.

What drives time

More stems and messier raw material mean longer mixes. Multitracks from our rooms are usually labelled cleanly; home-studio exports often need extra cleanup. Plan drum tracks (overheads separate?), doubles and FX returns.

Genre matters: sparse acoustic mixes finish faster than dense electronic productions with automation everywhere. Share reference tracks at intake—not to clone, but to show direction. For capture quality before mixing, see prepare your vocal session.

What to deliver

Send lossless audio (WAV/AIFF), ideally one sample rate for the whole project. Export stems without unintended master-bus processing; printed amp sims are fine if that is the sound. Add a short note with tempo, key and structure.

If you work from a DAW session, agree whether we receive stems only or project files. Plug-in mismatches happen; stems stay the safest path. We store project media for 24 months unless agreed otherwise.

Revisions and feedback

The track price includes 2 revision rounds: listen on headphones or monitors, collect timestamps and concrete notes, we adjust. Extra rounds are hourly or by agreement. Specific notes (“less sibilance on vocal at 0:45”) beat vague ones (“make it warmer”).

Mixing is not mastering. We deliver a balanced mix; streaming loudness is handled in mastering or a separate mastering pass. If you are planning release, read mastering and rights.

EPs and multiple songs

€720 covers up to six tracks mixed as one batch for consistent tone and dynamics. Seven songs or singles spread over months fall outside that package—we quote per track or as a project.

Approve one reference track mid-way so you do not reopen six songs later. Bands rehearsing in our rehearsal room before tracking can sometimes line up recording and mix in one schedule—ask via contact.

Payment and B2B

Consumers usually pay 30% deposit on booking; the balance before or on delivery depending on the service. Approved business accounts with a VAT ID may pay within 14 days on invoice.

Site prices are indicative; a quote confirms scope and timing. Cancelling booked studio mixing follows the same windows as recording: free up to 7 days ahead—see terms and conditions.

Next step

When budget and scope are clear, book via mixing or contact. File format or loudness questions may also appear in FAQ. We are at Danzigerkade 78, 1013 AP Amsterdam; directions: From Amsterdam Centraal, take metro line 52 (North/South) towards Noord and get off at Noorderpark. Walk about 8 minutes west along Danzigerkade; the studio is at number 78 on the waterfront. By bike from Centraal it is roughly 15 minutes via the IJ Tunnel.
