Mixing

From rough multitracks to a coherent mix that translates on headphones and speakers — with clear revision rounds and files ready for streaming.

Mix engineer at a console with monitors in the control room.

Mixing at Claviforge is where separate recordings become a song. We work from your stems or an exported session, balance levels, EQ, compression, panning and effects, and leave headroom for mastering. The team mixes in the control room on Danzigerkade, on monitors we calibrate regularly.

Mixing suits artists and producers who tracked themselves — at home or in our rooms — and want an outside ear on the final picture. Singles, remixes and EPs up to six tracks fit our bundles; larger works are scheduled in blocks. Read mix budget and planning before you upload so expectations match the quote.

How it works

  1. Delivery

You send printed WAV stems, tempo, key and references. We check headroom, naming and length.

  2. First mix

Balance and space in one pass. You get a listen link within the agreed window.

  3. Revisions

Up to 2 rounds with written feedback (timecodes, not vague voice notes).

  4. Finals

Approved mix as WAV, instrumental or acapella on request. Ready for mastering.

What we need from you

Deliver each track as 24-bit WAV without clipping and with bus headroom. State tempo, key and a short label per file (e.g. lead vocal, room guitar). Avoid a limiter on every stem unless that is intentional sound design — otherwise we have less room to move.

References help but are not a clone brief: we discuss which traits you want (vocal forward, dry drums) and which you do not. Messy file names delay the start; use consistent prefixes per song.

How we work in the studio

We mix in the control room with 32 channels of outboard and summing available. Complex sessions live in the DAW with automation; hardware stays where it earns its place. You do not need to attend offline mixes, but hourly in-studio mixing includes shared listening slots.

Vocals recorded here — for example through vocal recording — often arrive with session colours we already know. That speeds bus routing and compression choices.

Revisions and scope

Each track or EP price includes 2 revision rounds after the first mix. Bundle feedback in one email with timestamps (1:23 softer vocal). Small tweaks in the same round count together; a new round starts once you reply to the previous version.

Structural changes — extra stems, new length, another recording day — sit outside the original quote. We price them before continuing. Extra rounds beyond the included amount are billed at €88.

Turnaround

Timing depends on queue and track count. One song with tidy stems: often five to ten business days to first mix. EPs run sequentially or in parallel depending on complexity; the quote states a target date.

Rush is sometimes possible at a surcharge when the calendar allows — ask via contact. Unprepared stems extend any deadline, even on rush jobs.

File formats

Final mix: 24-bit WAV, usually 48 kHz unless mastering needs otherwise. We do not deliver MP3 as a master source. On request: instrumental, TV mix without vocal, or mix-bus stems — specify in the quote.

Our DAW projects stay in-house; full session exports only when contracted. Backups remain 24 months; download finals in time. See privacy policy.

Not included

Recording, performance editing, tuning every vocal, sample clearance, artwork and distribution are outside mixing. Mastering is a separate mastering step. We only repair broken stems when the quote says so.

Albums above six tracks need a new quote beyond the EP bundle. For loudness targets and platform specs, see mastering and rights and FAQ.

Linking with tracking

Many clients pair vocal recording here with mixing by the same team — naming and gain staging already match. External recordings are fine when files are technically sound.

Book a short intake via contact or 020 244 1836 with a demo link. We reply within 2 business days with price, schedule and delivery checklist. All services are listed on the hub page.

If you are unsure whether your material fits the per-track or EP bundle, mention track count and genre in your message; we suggest the most efficient option before you pay the 30% deposit.

FAQ

Can I master after your mix?

Yes. We deliver WAV without a mastering limiter so mastering has headroom. State loudness goals in the mastering brief.

Which DAW do you use?

We import stems into our workflow; your home DAW does not matter as long as exports are standard WAV.

What if my song is longer than five minutes?

Length up to about six minutes usually fits the per-track rate. Very long pieces or score are quoted separately.

How do I send files?

Through a secure upload link after booking. Avoid public transfers without agreement — see privacy.

Is an attended mix included?

Hourly in-studio mixing includes listening time. Per-track projects can add a short attended session for an extra fee if you want to visit.
